Patrick is in the hands of medical professionals to evaluate his mental health for the first time in over a decade.
First, Mary and I want to thank the Snohomish County mental health professionals, sheriffs and fire department personnel, and Superior Court Judge Rivera and his staff, who were all part of the team that expeditiously and carefully took the actions necessary to ensure that Patrick’s treatment could begin.
After filing a petition with the Superior court of Snohomish as soon as they opened, at 8:30am Tuesday June 11, the morning after Mikhail threatened us, the court officers were at our home to take Patrick to the hospital for treatment. This process can take as many as 7 days to execute, according to statute. The county was able to help us and him in a single day. Because of them, we are all safe.
They arrived at 7:40pm. Mikhail/Patrick was not happy to see the sheriffs when we opened the door to his bedroom. The officers attempted to persuade him to speak with them to no avail. They came with the county’s mental health professional who had copies of the judge’s order to review with Patrick. He did not want to talk. He resisted and was handcuffed and restrained for a few minutes until the fire department delivered a gurney. He raved and shouted at the officers, claiming that they were with the Army and were “forsaken.” Throughout, the officers themselves remained calm and tried to calm him in response. Within 40 minutes they were wheeling him out the front door. As they did, Patrick made no sound and did not turn his head toward us.
We aren’t yet sure to which county facility he has been transported, but we would appreciate everyone’s prayers for his treatment the next few days. As I understand the law, he will be in their care for a minimum of 5 business days. We hope and pray that the treatment he receives will bring him clarity and from there, we can take a few more positive steps with him. That would be a blessing.
I’m sending all my best thoughts of love, healing, and clarity. I wish the added stressors of the last few days hadn’t been necessary but I’m thrilled to hear there is a chance Patrick might get some of the care he’s desperately needed.
